I’ve been playing around with the idea of hosting a gathering of songwriters, musical artists, and people who love music and want to include it more in their life.
This idea will be played out slowly at substack, as I share new music, cover songs and essays about the musical life… but a few additional ideas are bubbling up:
- A group space where we can share works in progress, get feedback from our peers, and celebrate our wins (could be songwriters or artists, though it could also be any medium!)
- Monthly online open-mics (invite only, and you would have to come regularly to get invited back. Nothing personal! We just want to build a contiguous community.)
- Songwriting workshops (and eventually retreats!)
- Group sings (if you have any idea how to make this work in a digital setting, this will be what pushes the idea over the edge for me)
- Co-working sessions (a set time every week where we would put down our other obligations and write together for an hour)…
